Slaughter of children a crime against humanity

SURELY the wholesale butchery of children by precision weaponry is a crime against humanity. The many recent images of dead babies among the ruins of Lebanon and Gaza reinforces this belief.

But Tom Carew, expounding the Israeli government position (Irish Examiner letters, August 9), appears to argue as follows:

1. Israel is quite entitled to bomb civilians.
