Helping hands at critical point in journey

DURING a recent trip to Co Mayo my wife began to feel unwell on the train to Ballina.

Helping hands at critical point in journey

As a result we missed our stop at Manulla junction and our journey ended in Castlebar, 25 miles from Ballina where we were booked into a hotel.

At Castlebar railway station, my wife collapsed.

I would like to thank all the local people who came to her aid, including the woman who brought water and who offered to ring for an ambulance.

I would particularly like to thank Una Ní Ghabhláin who drove us to Ballina as there were no taxis available at that time.

I would have had to walk a mile to town to get a taxi and was reluctant, naturally, to leave my wife.

It was a pleasure to come across such decent people. A Mass will be offered for their intentions.
