Ignoring reality

IT is strange to us living in Israel and experiencing at first hand the war with a terrorist organisation that Fintan Lane would criticise Israel (Irish Examiner letters, August 10) for defending its civilians while ignoring the fact that thousands of residents in northern Israel have now endured a month in bomb shelters.

Hundreds of Israeli civilians have been killed and maimed and hundreds of properties demolished by Katyusha rockets fired by Hezbullah.

What action would Mr Lane wish the Irish government to take, I wonder, if Dublin was suffering the same fate as Haifa, neighbours of his were being killed and his home was demolished?
