Sounds like America

HAVING discussed the matter with others, I know I am not alone in my annoyance with those American-type sirens that the gardaí, ambulance and fire services now use.

What was wrong with the old sirens?

Fair play to the Dutch and the Germans — when I was in Amsterdam and Munich recently, they were still using their old sirens. For them there’s none of this ‘ape America’ nonsense.
