Where’s the proof?

I WAS surprised to see Bernadette Bohan quoted as saying categorically that breast cancer is caused by nutritional deficiencies and toxin build-up (Feelgood, June 30).

This may be so, but where is the scientific proof? I think women who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer have enough to cope with besides reading half-baked theories put forward by people without any medical expertise.

I also think that in the context of such a dramatic announcement, you have a responsibility to present other theories and viewpoints on the possible causes of this scourge.
