Airline sale opposed
The people of Ireland own Aer Lingus and the Government just holds it in trust for us.
Generations of taxpayers paid for Aer Lingus. The Government, motivated more by ideology than commonsense, is selling it for a fraction of its value against the wishes of the majority of Irish people.
As a former aircraft mechanic I believe there are far better ways to purchase new aircraft than a foolish flotation. As the airline is profitable, there is no reason why the State should not invest in it just as it already has in other airlines such as Ryanair and British Airways through the National Pensions Reserve.
