Who was the train driver in real life?

DO we know the identity of the train driver beaten by the Black and Tans in Ken Loach’s The Wind that Shakes the Barley?

Could it have been Richard Kiely from Waterford?

Perhaps some of your readers could provide details of the incident in which the train driver (or, perhaps, fireman, for he was a very young man at the time) was ordered to stop (I think between Carlow and Kilkenny) by the Black and Tans.

Richard Kiely certainly deserves to be remembered by the Irish people at this time.
