NO sooner had the improvement works on O’Connell Street in Dublin finished recently than the city council started more work on the street, at the Spire.

If they knew the job might have to be redone, why did they start it in the first place?

I understand this was to do with a fatal accident there last September, and the subsequent recommendations from the jury at the coroner’s inquest to change the road layout.

However, if the council knew there was a chance they would have to change the layout at the Spire, why did they continue with works that might have to be redone?
