They’ve made the wrong call on airport

BERTIE & Co probably don’t care — as nowadays you can fly almost anywhere from Dublin — but for the people of Cork, the almost certain decision by the Government not to foot the bill for the new terminal is going to make a big difference. And for the worst.

They’ve made the wrong call on airport

Many airline companies will think twice about continuing to operate out of Cork, let alone opening new routes. This seriously undermines the future of Cork, its competitiveness and profitability, and it is a disgrace that the Government, with money to spend, has deliberately chosen to do this. Especially as the relevant minister first promised that the bill would be paid in full.

If not for anything else, with elections coming up, Fianna Fáil should listen to Michael O’Leary and do the right thing.
