Elderly suffer due to lack of low-floor buses

NEEDLESS misery is caused to many elderly people with free travel passes who cannot avail of them because they can only board low-floored buses.

These are very few of these vehicles on some country routes and further difficulties are created because the timetable does not indicate at what times a low-floored bus is available.

On the Cork-Carrigaline route, for instance, the 3.20pm bus is the only one guaranteed to be low-floored while no bus on the incoming route (Carrigaline to Cork) carries this certainty.
