Maclise exhibition planned by gallery

FOLLOWING the success of the James Barry exhibition, the Crawford Art Gallery in Cork is preparing a similar project highlighting the achievements of Daniel Maclise (1806-1870).

Maclise exhibition planned by gallery

Born in Cork, Maclise was one of the first students at the Cork School of Art.

Moving to London in 1826, he became part of the Fraserian Circle, a literary and artistic group that included William Maginn, Crofton Crocker and William Makepeace Thackeray. We are keen to trace watercolours, oil paintings and prints by Maclise, particularly works in private collections.
