Wouldn’t it be nice if McDowell did a U-turn — just for a change?

JUSTICE Minister Michael McDowell probably did not appreciate the irony when, in relation to the Garda Rep-resentative Association’s intention to target government deputies with dodgy majorities, he said most association members were intelligent and would not be dictated to.

He’s absolutely right.

They won’t be dictated to — on the issue of the reserve force, at least, and they nailed their colours to the mast by voting unanimously not to co-operate with it at their annual conference.
