Amex takes control of credit cards

AMERICAN EXPRESS has taken direct control of issuing its consumer and corporate charge cards to its Irish customers.

Bank of Ireland had conducted the business on behalf of Amex since 1998.

Approximately 30,000 Irish people currently hold these American Express cards and have already been informed of the move. Amex is now due to manage these accounts directly through its European arm.
