GPO Rising museum is a cheap populist stunt

I WISH to correct some misrepresentations of the proposed museum and cultural centre to commemorate the Easter Rising at the GPO in Dublin.

I think this is long overdue. But you’ll have to excuse my cynicism that this is yet another cheap Ahern/FF populist stunt to win votes by appealing to people who might be fooled by this nonsense.

If such a plan is good enough now, why didn’t they turn the GPO into a museum and cultural centre years ago — for example, 1966, the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising, when major renovations were made to the GPO?
