WE ARE not very good in this country at looking forward. We spend a lot of time remembering, revisiting and, more recently, setting up investigations into the past.

However, last July, the McGill Summer School in Glenties, Co Donegal, spent its week-long schedule of debates and workshops exploring what Ireland might be like 25 years hence.

Now a collection of papers delivered by 40 speakers over the course of that week has been published in book form under the title Managing Ireland’s Future.
