The religious orders involved in the provision of healthcare must feel under siege yet again in the wake of the Lourdes Hospital inquiry into the hysterectomies performed by Dr Michael Neary. But the nuns need not fear. They have a friend in Mary.

“They’re terribly useful from the point of pastoral care,” Henry told RTÉ’s This Week programme. “That is extraordinarily important to patients in hospital.”
