Dear Santa, please can we have a government? I’m sorry for asking

IF anybody is still writing to him they might, in desperation, begin the letter this year thus: “Dear Santa, please bring us a government...”

Obviously, there's as good a chance of getting a proper one by shoving a letter up the chimney as there is by shoving a voting card into a ballot box.

It's just that we haven't tried it yet. It's a method that has worked for the Vatican for centuries, so there must be something to be said for it.
