Cleaning up our environment is crucial to our economic wellbeing

THE litter problem in this country is a dirty business, but something which few people think about is the fact that it could have a detrimental effect on the economy.

Most people would consider the scandals of long hospital waiting lists and appalling conditions in many schools around the country far more important than that of litter, because we do not associate a clean country with a better economy.

But if the economy was healthier, then the waiting lists and desperate conditions in our schools could be alleviated, if not wiped out.
