Tipperary town was shocked earlier this month when a local man was killed in his own garden.

Teddy Murnane, a husband and father of three, was well-known in Tipperary as a bus driver with Kavanagh’s Coaches and a dedicated GAA supporter. He had driven Tipperary hurling and football teams for many years.

Widespread tributes came from GAA and political figures, and the community held a vigil. A man faces charges of assault causing harm to Mr Murnane.

However, in the days after his death it emerged that Mr Murnane had a 2024 conviction for historic sexual offences — and his victim expressed anger at the widespread tributes paid to him.

Reporter Ann Murphy has been covering the story and is today’s guest on The Deirdre O’Shaughnessy Podcast.
