Call to extend pub opening hours if Ireland qualifies for World Cup

Independent TD says temporary licensing flexibility would let fans safely watch late-night World Cup matches together if Ireland qualifies

Justice minister Jim O’Callaghan has been urged to temporarily extend pub licensing hours for the World Cup if the Republic of Ireland qualifies.

Independent TD Barry Heneghan told the Irish Examiner the extension should be time-limited and temporary, arguing it would allow people to come together safely to cheer on the Boys in Green.
