A proposal to increase the minimum wage by 65c an hour in next month’s Budget has been described as “stingy” and insufficient for low-paid workers.

People Before Profit TD Paul Murphy said the increase to the minimum wage as recommended by the Low Pay Commission would still leave workers €104 a week short of meeting a minimum essential standard of living based on 2025 prices.
