Taoiseach Micheál Martin and presidential hopeful Jim Gavin have distanced themselves from comments made by President Michael D Higgins calling for Israel to be excluded from the United Nations.

Mr Martin said it would be a “huge step” to expel somebody and Ireland and Europe were focused on pressuring the Israeli government to stop its genocide in Gaza.
