Businessman Gareth Sheridan has received the backing of Kerry County Council in his bid to get on the presidential election ballot paper.

The council has nominated Mr Sheridan following the presidential hopeful's pitch last week. Candidates need the backing of four local authorities or 20 Oireachtas members to get on the ballot paper.
