Watch: Power cut leads to lights going out in Dáil
Leinster House suffered a power cut on Wednesday, prompting one TD in the Dáil to ask: "Have you paid the electricity bill, Minister?"
Social Democrats TD Jennifer Whitmore was on the floor talking about supermarket pricing during a motion on Transparency for Supermarket Profits when the issue caused the lights to go out.
Only a handful of TDs were in the Dáil at the time of the power cut, including minister of state for enterprise Niamh Smyth.
With the microphones in the chamber still working, Catherine Connolly, who was filling in as Ceann Comhairle, told Ms Whitmore to continue as the sound was more important than the visual.
A number of Oireachtas committees were also interrupted during the outage.
