The State received just €2.3m from the Vacant Homes Tax (VHT) last year, as figures show that less than 4,000 individuals paid the levy.

Figures published by the Department of Finance in November detail that there were a total of 3,942 returns submitted to Revenue that were found to be eligible, while 2,713 property owners set out that they were exempt from the tax.
