A new guide for general election candidates on what to do if they’re threatened or abused during the campaign has been published.

An Garda Síochána and Coimisiún na Meán have produced the guidance, which also features advice on how to interact with social media companies if there are “deepfakes” of them posted online or they receive abusive messages.
