Eamon Ryan condemned the October 7 Hamas attacks, but said that Ireland has been clear that the Israeli response "must respect international law, including the principle of proportionality and the need to respect humanitarian law".

Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has called for a full ceasefire in Gaza following meetings with the Palestinian Ambassador, Arab Ambassadors and Israeli Ambassador on Friday.

Mr Ryan echoed the Government's call for an immediate and full ceasefire on both sides of the violence that has continued now in Gaza for over a month. He said that this was necessary to allow both humanitarian aid into the bombarded enclave and to allow hostages and foreign passport holders to leave.
