As Fianna Fáil held its 81st Ard Fheis at the weekend, and the party edge towards election footing, the spotlight was on its candidates for the upcoming local and European elections.

The Irish Examiner spoke to five candidates running in the local elections from across the country, who are confident of grabbing a local authority seat.
