Three people arrested in connection with the fatal house fire that killed a couple and their two children in Waterford city have been released without charge.

A man in his 50s and two women in their 30s were arrested on Tuesday, October 20, as part of the investigation into the deaths of Philip and Kim English and their sons, Callum, 12, and Jayden, nine.

Gardaí said a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

A fourth person, a man in his 20s arrested on Thursday, October 22, remains in Garda custody.

The investigation centres on a suspected arson attack at the family home on Birch Avenue in the Birchwood area of Waterford city shortly after 5am on Tuesday, October 13.

The latest developments follow the arrests of Jessica Dalton, 31, of Waterford city, and Cian Stacey, 21, of no fixed abode, who were charged earlier this week with one count of criminal damage and two counts of assault causing serious harm. Both were remanded in custody.
