A contractor has been appointed to carry out repairs to the hydrotherapy pool at West Cork Leisure Centre in Dunmanway, with work now under way on site.
Cork County Council said the repairs were specialist in nature and had to proceed through the relevant procurement process before a contractor could be put in place.
The update was contained in the Municipal District officer’s report to the October meeting of West Cork Municipal District.
The council said work was progressing and every effort was being made to return the pool to service as soon as possible. No reopening date was given in the report.
The appointment of a contractor means the repair project has moved from the procurement stage to on-site works.
The council has not provided details of the nature of the repairs, their cost, or a timeline for completion. The latest update comes as the local authority continues to oversee works at the leisure centre.
Councillors were told only that the pool repairs were progressing and the aim was to have the facility back in use at the earliest possible date.
