Man dies at Love is a Stranger festival in Cork
Love Is A Stranger festival, Ballyvolane House, Co Cork.
A man has died at the Love is a Stranger festival at Ballyvolane House in Cork this weekend, as gardaí and emergency services remain at the scene.
The man, who was in his 30s, was found unresponsive in his tent on Sunday morning.
It is understood that the deceased was a DJ in Cork and was well known and respected in the electronic music scene.
Emergency services conducted CPR on the man but he was subsequently pronounced dead.
This was the second edition of Another Love Story’s roaming mini festival series, with artists on the festival bill including Séamas Hyland, Fixity, Sorcha Richardson, and John Spillane, and international DJs Move D and Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy.
Following the death, festival organisers said that, as a small team, “we are absolutely devastated to learn of the death of a festival attendee today”.
“Our thoughts are with the individual's family, friends, and loved ones at this extremely difficult time,” a spokesperson said. “We are assisting An Garda Síochána and the emergency services in every way possible, and will not comment further while their inquiries are ongoing.
“Out of respect for those affected, today's closing concert has been cancelled.
“We would like to thank the emergency services, our crew, volunteers and attendees and hosts for their support and understanding.”
