A man in his 30s has been charged in connection with the discovery of a woman’s body in Waterford earlier this week.

As gardaí continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the discovery of Noreen Daly's body on Monday, the man, who was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the investigation, has since been charged.

He is due to appear before Carrick-on-Suir District Court on Wednesday morning at approximately 10.30am.

Shortly after 2pm on Monday, gardaí found Ms Daly's body at her home in the rural area of Ardsallagh near Youghal Bridge.

Ms Daly, who was in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene, which was preserved for forensic examination.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána told the Irish Examiner that investigations are ongoing.
