New Lidl supermarket planned in Waterford city

A new Lidl supermarket is being planned on Carrickphierish Road, in the Gracedieu area of Waterford city.

Previous plans for a store in the area were quashed by An Coimisiún Pleanála in November 2025, following significant concerns from Waterford City and County Council ( read the full story). 

The new plans submitted by the retailer yesterday outlines intentions to construct a single-storey discount food store with an ancillary off-licence.

Construction of a new access road and pedestrian access from the Carrickphierish Road will also be constructed if plans are approved.

Car and bicycle parking facilities are also planned.
