Waterford arson incident under investigation

Waterford arson incident is under investigation by the gardaí.

The Gardaí in Waterford are investigating an incident of suspected arson that took place in the city recently.

An appeal has been made for assistance from the public in relation to the incident, which occurred in Ardmore Park at around 10.40pm on Tuesday, June 2.

A spokesperson said: "Gardai attended a call at a recently renovated vacant property in Ballybeg, following a report  from the Fire Service."

"The rear downstairs window was smashed to gain entry and an attempt to set two fires within the property, which thankfully, didn’t take off fullyk" said the spokesperson.

However, she said there was substantial smoke damage in an upstairs bedroom and a downstairs kitchen, and throughout the property. 

The scene was attended by Scene of Crime investigators and anyone who was in the area around that time or those who might have video doorbell or CCTV footage is asked to contact the Crime Unit at Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300.
