A partial rerouting of the proposed Cork Luas line — outlined in plans seen by the Irish Examiner — could necessitate the compulsory purchase of homes and sporting grounds in a western suburb.

Last summer, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and the National Transport Authority (NTA) published the emerging preferred route (EPR) for the planned €1bn-plus Cork light rail system.
