A relative said she had suffered a very serious brain injury,

In a video shared on social media, the partner of Scarlett's brother, Josephine (Joanne) Duffy, said the family were awaiting results of a brain scan.

"The doctors will speak to her parents with the results of the brain scan and what will be next," she said.

Ms Duffy added: "They're hoping for the best, they got bad news. They're praying, they want a miracle."

She added the family is "very appreciative" of the messages of support and prayers.

She also appealed for people to not post pictures of videos of the incident, which are “distressing for the family to see”.

"That's their sister lifeless on the ground being savagely attacked... Someone went in, took a photo of her in intensive care and posted that photo of her,” she added.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.
