Woman, 20s, in critical condition in hospital after assault in Tipperary

A woman in her 20s in a critical condition in hospital following a serious assault that took place in Co Tipperary on Saturday.
Gardaà are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred on the R494 at Birdhill at approximately 5.30pm.
The extent of the injuries sustained by the woman - who is in her 20s - were so severe that she was subsequently airlifted to University Hospital, Limerick where she remains in a critical condition tonight.
The scene remains preserved pending a technical examination. The road is also closed with local diversions put in place.
Gardaà are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
Any road users who were on the R494 between Birdhill and the M7 motorway between 5pm and 6pm on Saturday, and who may have camera footage, have been asked to make this footage available.
