A man has been taken to hospital following a suspected stabbing in Cobh, Co Cork.

Gardaí attended the scene of an assault near a residential property in Cobh in the early hours of Thursday morning, a garda spokesperson said.

A man, aged in his 40s, was brought to Cork University Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The assault in the coastal town may be linked to another suspected attack on Wednesday night.

Gardaí said that investigations are ongoing.
