Two feared dead after collision near Waterford city
GardaĂ close road after deadly collision outside Waterford
Two people are believed to have died and two others were seriously injured in a collision on the outskirts of Waterford city.
The incident occurred at around 12pm on Saturday at Pickardstown, Tramore, between Tramore and Waterford city.
Two vehicles are understood to have been involved.
GardaĂ have closed the area and are diverting traffic onto what is known locally as the Old Tramore Road.
Tramore and Waterford City West Sinn Féin councillor Jim Griffin said he was on his way home from Splashworld with his grandchildren when he met emergency services responding to the collision.
He said: “My thoughts are with the families involved.” It is understood the two injured people have been taken to hospital for treatment.
A garda statement said: “Gardaà and emergency services are at the scene of a road traffic collision at Pickardstown, Tramore, Co Waterford this afternoon, Saturday 21st February 2026. As this incident is ongoing, no further information at this time.”
