Man, 70s, dies in Tipperary crash as five others injured in separate early-morning collision
Gardaí appeal for witnesses after fatal collision on R660 in Tipperary
A man in his 70s has died following a single-vehicle road traffic crash in Co Tipperary on Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene on the R660 at Holycross shortly after 2.15pm, where a car was involved in a collision.
The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where an autopsy will be carried out in due course. The local coroner has been notified.
A technical examination of the scene has since been completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has fully reopened.
Separately, five people were injured in another road traffic collision in Co Tipperary earlier on Sunday morning.
The injuries, sustained by three men in their 30s and two women in their 20s, are not believed to be life-threatening. All five were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to a single-vehicle collision involving an SUV on a local road at Toem, near Cappawhite, shortly after 6.15am.
A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since fully reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed either collision, or who was travelling in the respective areas at the time and may have dash-cam or other camera footage, to contact them.
