Two people have been arrested after €310,600 worth of drugs were seized in Cork and Limerick.

As part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs in the region, members of Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit have arrested two people and seized in excess of €310,600 of suspected illegal drugs during searches in Bruree, Co. Limerick and Charleville, Co. Cork, on Friday, January 2.

A Garda spokesperson said: "During the course of the search of a residence in Bruree, Co. Limerick, cannabis (€198,000), cocaine (€10,500), Xanax tablets (€79,252) and amphetamines (€4,350) were seized.

"At a follow-up search of a residence in Charleville, Co. Cork, cocaine (€17,500), cannabis (€1000), weighing scales and drugs paraphernalia were seized."

A woman, aged in her 30s and a man, aged in his 40s, were arrested in connection with the investigation and are currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in Limerick.

The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

Investigations are ongoing.
