Teen who died in tractor crash named locally
The former Ballyea National School pupil was pronounced dead at the scene.
The teenager who died in a tractor crash has been named locally as TJ Chambers.
A promising hurler with his local GAA team at Ballyea, the 16-year-old died after the tractor he was driving crashed on Saturday on the R458 at Bunnahow, north of Crusheen, at 2pm.
The former Ballyea National School pupil, who was the only occupant of the tractor, was pronounced dead at the scene by gardaí.
The boy was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone travelling on the R458 between Gort and Crusheen around the time of the collision to contact them with any dashcam footage.
A planned tractor run planned for the day was later cancelled, “due to unforeseen circumstances", according to Ballyea GAA’s Facebook page.
The road in Tubber currently remains closed, according to gardaí.
According to the , TJ Chambers was a promising hurler from the Ballyea GAA club in County Clare.
He was known for his involvement in underage U-15 and U-16 teams and featured in championship finals.
He also regularly took part in helping raise funds for his club.

The teenager’s death came just a day after Padraig McDonald, a 20-year-old farmer from Co Tyrone, died in a collision near Cookstown on Friday, December 26.
