Motorists in Cork are being warned of the potential for heavy traffic after a lorry got stuck on Richmond Hill in the city centre.

The truck got stuck and could not turn at the end of Richmond Hill, leading to traffic delays on Tuesday morning.

Gardaí from Anglesea St station are currently on the scene providing assistance to the truck driver.

The area is known for lorries getting stuck. Some locals have blamed Google Maps for sending drivers of heavy vehicles down the narrow road.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area, as the truck has been unable to reverse back up the street, resulting in traffic jams.

Diversions are currently in place.
