Man arrested after €490k worth of cocaine seized in Limerick
Gardaí also seized €3,000 in cash and a number of electronic items.
One man has been arrested after gardaí in Limerick seized nearly €500,000 worth of cocaine.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs, officers attached to the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit stopped a van in Hospital in Limerick on Saturday afternoon.
The driver, a manin his 20s, and the vehicle were conveyed to a garda station in Limerick city for a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
In the course of a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a concealment of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €493,920.
Gardaí also seized €3,000 in cash and a number of electronic items.
The man is currently detained.
A follow-up search was conducted at a residence in Castletroy and a further €2,075 and a small quantity of cannabis was seized by Gardaí.
The seized drugs will be forwarded to forensics for analysis.
A garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
