Gardaí said emergency services were called to the scene on the R551 at Caherslee shortly after 1.30am

A cyclist in his 50s is in a serious condition after a collision with a car in Tralee in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Gardaí said emergency services were called to the scene on the R551 at Caherslee shortly after 1.30am, where the man was treated before being taken to University Hospital Kerry.

No other injuries were reported.

The road remains closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly road users who may have camera or dash-cam footage from the Caherslee area around the time of the incident.

Investigations are ongoing.
