A section of the N72 between Cork and Kerry has been closed following an accident involving a crane near Killarney.

According to a garda spokesperson, the incident occurred on the Barraduff Road on Tuesday morning when a crane "went off the road". 

Gardaí arrived at the scene around 8.20am.

A second crane is being brought in to remove the vehicle. 

Gardaí reported no injuries.

The stretch of road between Barraduff Village and the Lissivigeen Roundabout will remain closed until 9am Wednesday to facilitate recovery efforts. 

A single-lane operation is expected to remain in place for a few days.

The N72 links North Cork with Mallow, Killarney, and Killorglin in County Kerry.
