Man taken to hospital following assault in Cork

A man has been taken to the hospital following an assault in Co Cork.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident at a private residence in Mitchelstown this Saturday, at approximately midnight.

A Garda spokesperson said that a man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for the "treatment of non-life threatening injuries".

Another man, also aged in his 40s, was arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Co. Cork.

"He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984," added the spokesperson.

Investigations are ongoing.
