Man taken to hospital with serious injuries following alleged assault in Cork City

A Garda investigation is underway after a man was seriously injured in an alleged assault in Cork City on Monday night.

Emergency services attended the scene of the incident on Quaker St at around 10pm.

A man aged in his 40s was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The scene is preserved for technical examination. 

The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.
