Gardaí investigating a shooting which took place in Co Limerick in August have made three arrests.

The incident occurred on August 21 in Kilcoole, near Rathkeale, shortly after 6.30pm on that date.

At the time a man, aged in his 40s, was transferred to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries.

As part of their investigation into the incident, gardaí conducted a planned operation in the Rathkeale area on Wednesday. 

During this operation, three males were arrested. They are aged in their mid teens, 20s, and 40s. 

They are currently detained at separate stations in Co Limerick.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident on August 21 to come forward.

A spokesperson said: "Road users with camera footage (including dashcam) who were travelling in the Kilcoole and greater Rathkeale areas between 6.15pm and 7.30pm on Thursday 21st August 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Newcastle West Garda Station on (069) 20650, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111, or any garda station."
