A man has died following a crash in West Cork on Monday, bringing to four the number of people who have died on roads in the county since Thursday. 

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Monday morning on the road between Leap and Drinagh in the Corran Middle area.

The driver, a man aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a Garda spokesperson, no other injuries were reported.

The road remains closed at this time to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10.30am and 11.30am this morning, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

Last Thursday, two people were killed within hours of each other in Cork. A 26-year-old woman, who had moved to Cork from Japan earlier this year, was killed in a collision involving a truck and a bicycle at the junction of Albert Street and Albert Road in the city centre. 

A man in his 40s died in Ballycotton on Thursday after an accident involving a dumper truck. Gardaí and emergency services arrived at Church Road at 3.30pm after the alarm was raised.

It is understood the man was carrying out works in the area when his dumper truck struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Saturday, a man in his 40s died after being hit by a car. The incident happened between junction 11 and junction 12 northbound on the M8 motorway at Carrigane, Mitchelstown, at around 9.15pm.

Also on Sunday, a motorcyclist died following an accident at a motocross event at Vernon Mount in Cork City.
